History of South Asia

The term South Asia refers to the political entities of the Indian subcontinent and associated islands, that is the states of Pakistan, Republic of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the island nations of Sri Lanka and the Maldives. In historical (pre-1947) usage, these territories are subsumed under "India".
